Power Forward supports municipalities in evaluating electric grid capacity in areas that are primed for development, giving cities, towns and developers a clear pathway to evaluate where new affordable, energy-efficient housing can be built quickly and cost-effectively. 

Program overview

Power forward accelerates electric grid planning to unlock housing development, including affordable and mixed-use projects. The initiative includes:

• One consolidated engineering study covering up to three sites within a defined area (on a shared or adjacent feeder)
• Eligible municipalities may also receive funding to help alleviate financial hurdles

 These benefits reduce time, cost and uncertainty in evaluating grid capacity for development. All municipalities served by Eversource can apply.
