Eversource crews make excellent progress restoring power following 4th of July storms despite working in challenging weather conditions

Energy company expects to have power restored to most impacted customers by Tuesday night
BERLIN, CT. (July 6, 2026) – As Eversource makes significant progress assessing and repairing the widespread damage from the powerful storm that slammed the region and Connecticut on the 4th of July, the energy company estimates nearly all customers affected by the storm will have power back by Tuesday at 11:45 p.m., with many being restored before that. Hundreds of line, tree and service crews as well as other operations personnel are working to restore power to customers in communities from the Northwest corner to the shoreline with the support of additional out-of-state resources from across the region. As of 4 p.m., Eversource has restored power to more than 132,000 customers since the storm began and is continuing to make repairs to address the remaining 18,000 outages. Many have already received an estimated time of restoration for their specific outage, and for those who have not, estimates will be provided as crews arrive on site at their location and assess the damage.
"This is an all-hands on deck, multi-day power restoration effort, and we have a massive work force out in the field with crews from around New England and as far as Canada all working toward the same goal of restoring power for our customers," said Eversource President of Connecticut Electric Operations Don Scacco. "Our crews have made strong progress getting customers back on line after this powerful storm that caused substantial damage throughout the region. Today's heavy rain made it challenging for our crews in the field - slowing their travel time from one location to another and performing intricate work required to make needed repairs. Despite those additional challenges, our entire team remains fully committed to working non-stop to get power back for every customer affected by Saturday's storm as quickly and safely as possible.

If a customer receives a message that power in their area was restored but is still without power, it may be because a main line in the area was restored, but individual repairs to a customer's service line or other equipment are needed to restore service. The only way Eversource can respond to an outage is if the company has been notified. Customers should report their outage to Eversource so it can be addressed.
While high winds are not forecasted with today's significant rainfall, Saturday night the state did see some wind gusts reach 70 and 80 mph according to the National Weather Service. Those winds may have weakened and compromised trees and branches, increasing their risk of falling, and resulting in additional outages today. As crews remain laser-focused on restoration, Eversource also continues to coordinate closely with its municipal partners. Since the storm's onset, the energy company has cleared nearly 300 blocked roads, and its dedicated community liaisons continue to collaborate with municipalities so they can attend to any concerns as the restoration progresses.
Eversource reminds customers to stay clear of downed wires - and keep pets away - and report them immediately to 9-1-1. Customers using generators should ensure they are operated outdoors and far away from buildings.
