Information on phishing and social engineering attacks

HARTFORD, Conn. and BOSTON, Mass. (May 22, 2026) – Eversource Energy recently identified unauthorized activity involving employee credentials obtained through phishing and social engineering attacks. Our investigation determined that these malicious efforts enabled limited Company data to be accessed through the compromised accounts of two employees. The activity was promptly identified and blocked, and additional security measures were implemented to further strengthen our cybersecurity systems.

Our investigation confirmed there was no impact to electric, gas or water service, and no intrusion into customer information systems, nor into other critical operational systems or infrastructure. The compromised activity remains blocked, and Eversource continues to monitor the situation and work with law enforcement, as appropriate.

The investigation also determined that some of the Company data accessed included personal information associated with approximately 3,049 former or current customers or household members, representing a very small percentage of our more than 4.6 million customers across our three-state territory.

We have been active in communication with our regulators, as well as local and federal law enforcement regarding this matter. In addition, Eversource has arranged for complimentary two-year credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services for impacted individuals. Customers who may have been affected will receive direct notification with additional information and enrollment instructions.
