Eversource launches 2026 ‘Main Streets’ to connect small businesses across Massachusetts with affordable energy solutions
Apr 29, 2026
Statewide program connects small businesses with energy assessments to lower energy use and reduce costs
BOSTON, MA (April 24, 2026) – As part of its ongoing commitment to make energy efficiency solutions accessible and affordable for more customers across the commonwealth, Eversource is bringing its award-winning Main Streets initiative to a dozen Massachusetts cities and towns in 2026. Through Main Streets, Eversource, along with the other Sponsors of Mass Save®, will provide small business owners with direct access to energy efficiency assessments and available upgrades that reduce energy usage while helping to lower energy bills and operating costs.
"Year after year, Main Streets connects small businesses across the state with energy efficiency solutions that help owners manage their energy usage," said Eversource Director of Energy Efficiency Kate Peters. "Through this initiative, we can help make energy efficiency upgrades more accessible and affordable for our customers, so that they can enjoy the benefits. These improvements contribute to improved operational efficiency and lower energy bills, allowing owners to reinvest in employees, customers, and their neighborhoods, and help ensure that communities can thrive for years to come."
Events will take place in communities across the state throughout the spring and early summer, including:
• Ashfield, Colrain, Conway, Erving and Leyden (April 27 – May 8)
• Woburn (May 4 – May 5)
• Roxbury (May 11 – May 29)
• Acton, Berkshire County, Lawrence and Watertown (dates to be announced)
Main Streets energy efficiency solutions start with an energy assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities for small businesses, such as insulation, occupancy sensors, programmable thermostats, refrigeration controls, compressed air upgrades, lighting controls and more. Improvements like installing aerators and spray valves happen on the spot at no cost to the customer. More involved projects, like the installation of energy-efficient motor controls, are scheduled for a future date.
Eversource offers increased incentives for a range of energy efficiency improvements - up to 100 percent of project costs for nonprofits and customers who rent their spaces, not including heat pumps. Local licensed electricians and energy solutions providers contracted by Eversource will complete approved projects and ensure minimal disruption to daily business operations, and all high-efficiency products installed as part of this initiative include warranties for both materials and labor. Through close collaboration with town officials, communities may have specialized technologies and incentives available during their Main Streets event, tailored to the needs of their business community.
If a Main Streets event is not coming to your community this year, any business interested in scheduling a no-cost energy assessment can do so by reaching out to their Mass Save Sponsor.
For many small business owners, Main Streets might be their first introduction not only to business incentives but to residential energy efficiency programs as well. All Massachusetts residents – renters or homeowners, moderate or low-income – are eligible for incentives, services and support that can help them to improve their energy efficiency. A Home Energy Assessment is a great place to start and will connect residents with an Energy Specialist who can help them find ways to lower their energy bills.
