Line 132 Wire and Structure Replacements
Why Are We Doing This Project?
We determined after an extensive study that integration of additional clean energy into the electrical grid in the Plymouth area requires upgrades to Line 132. This project will support interconnection of new renewable resources and improve reliability.
This work is part of a larger initiative focused on electric system enhancements to maintain reliability and enable distributed energy resource (DER) facilities to safely interconnect and operate. Construction will not interrupt normal electric service to local customers.
Where Is This Work Being Done?
Line 132 runs through Kingston, Plymouth and Plympton. It begins at Brook Street Substation, located off Brook Street in Plympton, and runs southeast for about 5 miles before it terminates at West Pond Substation, located off Federal Furnace Road in Plymouth.
The following upgrades will be needed:
- Replacing approximately 5 miles of existing conductor wire on Line 132 from Brook Street Substation to West Pond Substation with new conductor wire.
- Replacing 11 existing structures with new structures.
- Installing one new transmission structure and two new support structures.
When Is The Work Being Done?
- Proposed start of construction: Second quarter 2026*
- Estimated in-service date: Second quarter 2027
*Subject to change, pending necessary approvals

Siting Review
After preliminary engineering is completed, we will determine the scope of required project approvals and provide updates as they become available.
Community Outreach
We have continued to engage with town and city officials, residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders via municipal briefings, open houses, mailings and meetings to answer questions and listen to concerns. Project team members will remain engaged with the community as a resource throughout the project and will share updates on the project's progress and schedule as new information becomes available.
