UCMP Mystic to North Cambridge

Why Are We Doing This Project?
As part of its ongoing commitment to deliver reliable energy and superior service to its customers, we are proposing the replacement of two existing 345-kilovolt (kV) underground transmission lines which connect Mystic Substation to North Cambridge Substation.
The proposed project is part of our larger Underground Cable Modernization Program (UCMP). This program is designed to modernize and strengthen the electric grid, extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure, and proactively ensure the availability of materials for system enhancements.
Where Is This Work Being Done?
The proposed underground transmission lines targeted for upgrades run from Mystic Substation in Everett and Boston, to the North Cambridge Substation in Cambridge.
We are currently evaluating the viability of various routes, including one that primarily follows the existing alignment for approximately 4.98 miles. We welcome and appreciate the opportunity to integrate feedback into the routing.
The project will not require any interruptions in customer service.
