Managed Charging+
A new pilot offering enhanced incentives for a limited time in select Massachusetts neighborhoods
About the Pilot
Qualifying residents can earn rewards for helping support a reliable electric grid, while still waking up with a fully charged car every day.
This pilot tests new ways to support local reliability through shifting EV charging to specific times. Your participation helps lower demand, reduce the need for local generators, and supports clean, reliable energy in your community.
Paths to Enhanced Incentives
Managed Charging+ is available to residents in select locations:
- The Greater Boston pilot is available in Alewife, Dorchester, Mattapan, West Roxbury and town of Milton
- The Southeastern Massachusetts Pilot will be available to certain residents in Freetown, Lakeville, New Bedford, Dartmouth and Acushnet
Greater Boston Pilot
Enroll an eligible smart charger or EV and earn rewards for shifting EV charging to off-peak hours. You’ll help decrease demand on electric grid, improve system reliability and lower your carbon emissions even further. Choose from two paths to participate:
Path one: Scheduled Charging
Let us help optimize your charging based on grid demand.
- Enroll and stick to your set charging schedule during off-peak hours (anytime except 2 to 10 p.m., excluding holidays).
- Complete at least two 15-minute charging sessions per month. You can override the schedule anytime, but you will forfeit that month's performance incentive.
- Get a $50 enrollment incentive* and earn $30 per month for hitting your monthly charging goal.
*If you have received a charger and/or wiring upgrade rebate from Eversource, the enrollment incentive may not apply.
Path two: Off-Peak Rewards
Keep control of your charging schedule and earn rewards for charging when energy demand is low.
- Complete all charging during off-peak hours (anytime except 2 to 10 p.m., excluding holidays).
- Complete at least one 15-minute charging session per month.
- Get a $50 enrollment incentive* and earn $30 per month for hitting your monthly charging goal.
*If you have received a charger and/or wiring upgrade rebate application from Eversource, the enrollment incentive may not apply.
Southeastern Massachusetts Pilot
Enroll an eligible smart charger or EV and earn rewards for shifting your EV charging the middle of the day where there is excess solar generation in your neighborhood.
- Enroll and complete at least five 15-minute charging sessions per month during peak solar hours.
- Sessions can be completed every day (excluding holidays) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Get a $50 enrollment incentive* and earn $30 per month for participating.
*If you have received a charger and/or wiring upgrade rebate application from Eversource, the enrollment incentive may not apply.

If you qualify for any of the options above and you already own an eligible smart charger or EV, you can enroll below.
If you don't own a qualifying EV or charger, you may be eligible for rebates on the purchase of a qualified charger and/or home wiring upgrades.
